Grove Road Kitchen - A Bright, Welcoming Family Kitchen in Barnes

Designed for a young family in Barnes, this kitchen is bright, welcoming and packed with clever storage. Cabinetry in Paint & Paper Library Sand III sets a warm backdrop, while the island in Paint & Paper Library Fynbos brings a deep green pop of colour that opens beautifully to the garden beyond. Pretty - and unusual - white pendants with a rust-red rim look lovely too.

About This Project

Key Project Details

  • Location: Barnes, London

  • Kitchen Style: In-frame shaker kitchen

  • Layout: Main run, pantry cupboard and central island

  • Materials: Painted hardwood, quartz worktop

  • Appliances: American fridge-freezer, induction hob on island, belfast sink, slim wine cooler

  • Special Touches: Twin pantry cupboards, island storage

The brief called for a warm, welcoming family kitchen with maximum storage. A double pantry cupboard with bi-fold doors is designed with the counter top units set back, which gives a feeling of space. We also designed a surround for the fridge-freezer with storage above - and a lovely tall counter-top unit to the right of the sink - again set back to give a feeling of space leading onto the garden. Sand III on the runs keeps everything soft and calm, while the deep green Fynbos island grounds the space and opens to the garden through sliding doors. A slim wine cooler is tucked neatly into the run, and three distinctive white pendants with rust-red rims bring real personality overhead.
